Magnolia Market - Waco, TX

Yesterday, Baker and I took a little road trip down to Waco to meet up with my Mom, Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Judy who were coming from Austin. It was a no-brainer that I wanted to meet at Magnolia Market since I have never been and am also just slightly addicted to Fixer Upper.

I didn't do a ton of research previous to heading down so I didn't know what to expect. We lucked out with it being an absolutely gorgeous day, although this meant for more of a crowd.

Here are just a few tips if you plan to visit Magnolia market...​

• It is really easy to find. Just a few blocks from I-35.
• If you can, go on a week day. We were there on a Thursday and it was packed! I can't imagine what it looks like on the weekends.
• Arrive as early as possible. They open at 9:00am and this is apparently the best time to do some shopping before the crowds arrive. We arrived around 11:15am and by 12 there was a full blown lunch crowd.

• There is a free parking lot, but by the time we got there it was full. Most of the surrounding lots are $10 for the day.
• The line at the bakery is out the door with amusement park style ropes. The good news is, they pass out cards with the full menu for you to fill out your order. This makes the line go way faster than you expect.
• The cupcakes were delish, but my favorite was the cinnamon roll. (If I knew I was doing a blog post I would have taken a picture before devouring it.)

• They have 12 food trucks on site and a huge open lawn, as well as some picnic tables in the shade.
• If you plan to stay awhile, bring a picnic blanket or something so you can stake a claim on some area in the sun.

BONUS: Photo taking tip...

Most of the photo-worthy backdrops are in direct sunlight, in the middle of the day, which is very unflattering. I saw so many people plaster themselves to this wall and they had to squint their eyes so hard.

If you can find some shade to stand in you'll be much happier with the result. I found this umbrella over a table to shade our faces and then just brightened it up in a photo editing app. My iphone editing app of choice is afterlight.

Again, If I knew I was going to do a blog post I would have taken way more photos but I think you get the idea. :) It's a great place to spend the day and you definitely don't need anymore time than that to enjoy everything it has to offer.

The one item I really wanted to purchase was this gorgeous boho pillow. But the ridiculous lines at the checkout counters (yes, plural, 3 to be exact) saved my wallet from any damage.
